Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the
Last Supper and the institution of the two sacraments: the Holy Eucharist
and the Priesthood. The evening liturgy of the Holy Thursday opens the
Holy Triduum of the Death and Resurrection of the Lord.
The Mass of
the Lord’s Supper was celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio, His
Excellency Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto. Many priests surrounded him:
Fr. Solana, Fr. Kelly, Fr. Alonso and others.
Following the example of the Savior who washed the feet of His
disciples, the Nuncio washed and kissed the feet of the twelve chosen men.
which took place after the homily, is a sign of humility of Christ and
those in charge of the community of the Church.
The Mass of the
Lord’s Supper concluded with the Eucharistic procession.
The Holy Sacrament was carried by
the main celebrant to the chapel of adoration. This is to commemorate the
Lord’s prayer in Gethsemane, His arrest and trial.
The faithful accompanied the Lord present in
the Blessed Sacrament. The main chapel’s tabernacle remained empty
until the end of the Easter Vigil.
silent procession of the celebrant and the servants opened the afternoon
liturgy of the Good Friday. The Church does not celebrate
the Eucharistic sacrifice on this day. All the musical instruments are
silent. The choir sang a capella.
liturgy concludes the biblical readings, including the John’s
account of the Lord’s Passion, the Greta Universal Prayer in the
intentions of the Church and all the world, the adoration of the Cross,
and the Communion.
Universal Prayer, the veiled Cross was brought to the chapel. The main
celebrant, His Excellency Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto, unveiled the
Cross and showed the sign of our salvation to the assembly. Everybody
could approach and venerate the Cross.

flame opened the most noble Vigil of the liturgical year.
The Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency
Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto, prepared the Paschal
Candle, and lit it. The Candle, symbolizing the Risen Lord, was introduced
into the chapel in the solemn procession, followed by the crowd of the
faithful. Everybody shared the flame with the small candles.
The Easter joy is
so great that the Church cannot limit it to just one celebration. The
morning Mass on the Easter Sunday began at 10am and was
celebrated by Fr. John Solana, the Chargee to the Holy See. Many
guests and pilgrims joined the Notre Dame community for this
